On the Haleakala Hike we will meet at the Halemau’u trailhead for an introduction to mindfulness. Then we will proceed walking 1 mile down, in mindfulness practice, to the overlook at the edge of the crater with spectacular views. There, we will remain in a guided mindfulness practice seated at the edge of the crater for 20-30 minutes followed by a brief discussion and Q&A. The hike back up is medium-strenuous, all uphill, making a 400′ elevation change in 1 mile.
From the parking lot, please allow 1.5 – 2 hours for the tour. Participants must be reasonably fit. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes, hat, sunscreen, warm layered clothes for changing weather, and bring a water bottle. Rain gear is recommended, and we will be sitting directly on the Earth so please bring a small cushion if you prefer. Hikes will be canceled in case of inclement weather
